Azurite is a secondary mineral that usually forms when carbon dioxide rich waters permeate the Earth and react with copper ores beneath the surface. The acid in these waters dissolves small amounts of copper from the ore.
Chrysocolla is a sharply colored mineral which can be among the brightest shade of blue and green, and is caused by its copper content. Chrysocolla is often coated by a druzy layer of glossy clear Quartz, or intergrown together with the Quartz.
