Faden Quartz Cluster

Faden quartz forms inside rock fractures when tectonic forces slowly pull the host rock apart. The quartz crystal repeatedly cracks and is rapidly healed by silica-rich fluids. The crack and seal process traps microscopic gas and fluid bubbles, leaving a distinct white central thread.
